Downtown Dining Week 2014.

I meant to get this up weeks ago, I swear...

March 14-23rd was Edmonton's Downtown Dining Week.

Dinner at Tzin.

I made an appearance at 4 lunch spots and 2 dinners. Most of which were amazing!

Lunch

* De Dutch

* Cafe Select

* Normand's Bistro

* Tavern 1903

Dinner

* The Creperie

*Tzin

I would have to say hands down Tzin was my favourite dinner spot, although there wasn't much competition as The Creperie was fairly horrible.

Lunch at Normand's Bistro

In terms of lunch they were all really great, but I think Normand's takes the cake!

Check out my Yelp reviews to read more on my dining experience!

undecided salad.

this has to be one of my favourite recipes.
the greenhouse in edmonton does a similar salad
and i bought my olive oil and vinegar from evolution.

the base.
spinach
dried cranberries
almonds
grilled chicken
quinoa
blueberries/raspberries

the dressing.
2 parts lime olive oil
1 part coconut white vinegar

*mix and pour over salad*

so simple, so delicious.
enjoy!

blueberry tarts.

okay, yummmmmmmm.
this is the best recipe i've ever found
hands down, so delicious and so quick and easy to make

melt 2 tbsp. of butter and mix with one crushed graham cracker.
put this mixture in the bottom of your tart shells
bake at 350 for about 10 min in the oven

combine 1 tbsp of cornstarch, 1 tsp of sugar, 1/4 tsp of cinnamon,
1tbsp of lemon juice and 1/4 - 1/2 cup of blueberries
i used frozen blueberries (depending on how much filling you want to make)
put it in the microwave stopping to stir every 45 seconds for a max of 6 minutes.
all of a sudden you will find that your mixture thickens and turns into a pie filling, it's magic!

this made 6-8 tarts for me but i'm sure you could do more.
this is such an easy recipe, i don't even know.
i'm in love with it!

dtdw 2013.

albeit being sick the boyfriend and i made it out to our first downtown dinning week
apparently it's the 10th annual, though we've never heard of it.
i love many of the restaurants in downtown edmonton
next year we are hoping to hit up a lot more
we checked out two

104st grill
wasn't actually too impressed with this place
considering we trudged through the snow storm of the year to get here

cafe select
quite a cute little french cafe
main couse was average, escargot, wine and dessert were great though

i really like the idea of downtown dinning week and i can't wait till next year
i promise i won't be sick

what restaurants have you tried recently?
